About

We're Elli and Simon — two travelers who write down what we find.

We started Travelelli because we kept losing the good stuff. The tiny family-run guesthouse outside Hoi An. The bakery in Lisbon you'd walk past if you didn't know. The bus that gets you from Tirana to Lake Ohrid without the tourist markup. We were telling the same recommendations over and over to friends, so we figured we'd write them down properly.

What you'll find here

Honest travel notes from the places we actually go to. Mostly that means Europe — Portugal, Italy, the Balkans, occasionally somewhere colder — and Southeast Asia, where we end up every winter. Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos. Anywhere with a slow morning and a good night market.

We're not into checklists or "10 things you must do." We travel slow, eat everything, and avoid anything that requires queuing. If we recommend a place, it's because we'd go back.

How we travel

Mid-range, mostly. We're not backpacking on $20 a day, but we're not in five-star resorts either. Think family-run places, neighborhood restaurants, local trains, and the occasional splurge when it's worth it. We'll always tell you what we paid.
